A 49-year-old Hilo woman is being charged with felony theft for allegedly attempting to steal lychee from an orchard Wednesday morning in Keaau.

A 49-year-old Hilo woman is being charged with felony theft for allegedly attempting to steal lychee from an orchard Wednesday morning in Keaau.

Police say they recovered 40 pounds of harvested fruit worth $180 and arrested Andrene Grammer.

She was charged with second-degree theft, a Class C felony punishable by up to five years in jail. Her bail was set at $10,000 and her initial court date was Thursday.
